Teen Court of Clearfield County

Description: Teen Court of Clearfield County receives referrals (mostly summary offenses) from the four local Magisterial Courts and the Clearfield County Juvenile Probation Office.  Eight local school districts, as well as two private schools, are utilized in this program.  The Teen Court accepts offenders from these schools, and students from all of the schools participate as the volunteer student attorneys and jurors.  Statistics are kept on all repeat offenders and any criminal charge can be filed after the offender has completed Teen Court.  The recidivist rate for this program currently is at about 10% (for 2005-06), while the Clearfield County Juvenile Probation Office rate is approximately 21%.  Note: The Teen Court of Clearfield County does not hear drug use, truancy, absentee problems or compulsory attendance related cases.
